Playing music should be fun, right?

I do not believe that playing an instrument is a skill that is someone is born with. With enough dedication (and hard work), anything is possible – especially when there is a desire to learn.

I have worked with drummers of all levels and all ages – from beginners to experienced players. I can help a musician of any level reach the goals they are looking to achieve.

From my experience, most students learn best in a positive, low pressure environment. I make it a point to encourage students to have a positive attitude and to do their best regardless of their skill level. This means I also teach students to embrace mistakes because sometimes the best lessons are learned from making mistakes.

In addition, I also teach students efficient ways to learn or refine new skills or existing skills. I acknowledge each student’s individuality and unique learning style, and so I utilize several ways to approach each new skill set. Making sure students can reach their goals quickly while still maintaining proper technique and great sound quality on the drums.

That being said, I still stress that all students need a strong foundation of basic technique and music reading proficiency. All of my students will learn and review basic snare drum technique, drum rudiments, and music reading. This allows for a deeper understanding of music as a whole, and will open up doors for students who want to do more than play just for fun.

I also require all students to regularly practice. This doesn’t mean four hours a day seven days a week, but students who practice regularly (relative to what their schedule allows) will make more progress and reach their goals faster!

My teaching studio is equipped with professional drums so each student can get an authentic experience playing with high quality instruments. Bay Area drum lessons are held at my studio located in Burlingame, California, which is 30 minutes south of San Francisco and 45 minutes north of San Jose (traffic permitting) . There is easy access from Highway 101 and El Camino.

Not local? Not a problem, I also provide top quality drum lessons over the internet for anyone looking to study drumming remotely!
