Outside of playing locally since 2006, I have several years of touring under my belt. I have been on several national and international tours playing in small venues, large venues, or festivals. I have toured in small vans, sprinters, mini vans, and on planes. I also have played in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area, in small coffee houses, bars, theaters, and festival stages both big and small.

Playing drums professionally and troubleshooting my drums (and sometimes rental drums) on the road has been quite the journey. Having the skill set to make things work for a performance or in an emergency is something I’ve learned through hands-on experience.
Studying music at San Jose State University exposed me to a wide variety of percussion instruments, and Galen Lemon taught a few classes on instrument maintenance, including keyboard percussion, timpani, and auxiliary percussion. Outside of school, I continually learned about tuning, hardware, and each instrument through playing and practice.
During my time in music retail, I served as the in-house “percussion technician,” providing consultation to customers and the store’s sales/repair staff. I was responsible for processing percussion rental kits, including replacing parts, tuning heads, and setting up snare wires/throw-offs, as well as performing regular in-school repairs for various percussion instruments and hardware.
Over the years, I’ve honed my drum tuning skills and can make any set of drums sound great. Sometimes, even the most neglected drums just need a few parts or a little “TLC” to get them working again and sounding the way you want.
In addition to working on my own drums and occasional client projects, I also do percussion repair contract work for West Valley Music. Currently, I’ve been serving the Hayward Unified District and Sunnyvale School District. My percussion instrument repair service is available to anyone or organization in the immediate San Francisco Bay Area.
